Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
The sad conclusion of unbelief.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
Christianity makes no sense if there is no resurrection.
Actually no religion does nor does any moral code.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
The big turn-around.

I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Paul is denying the argument against the resurrection by virtue of the body of believers who are rejoicing in the New Birth and hope in Christ Jesus.
Furthermore, by virtue of him putting his life on the line every day for Christ he is testifying to his faith in the resurrection.

My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
The power of our love is the power of Holy Spirit love.

Unto the church of the Lord which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
We are sanctified In Christ by His blood and His indwelling Holy Spirit. His Holy Spirit is the gift of His righteousness to us. We are saints because He has called us so.
We are to call upon the name of Jesus and no other name including generic deity.

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who by His Holy Spirit is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
The Holy Spirit Father is Christ in us.

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
Spritual Truth is only spiritually discerned. The state of spiritual maturity of a believer determines how much spiritual truth they can receive.

We are fools for Christ`s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
The world hates that which is spiritual. Paul is essentially saying that those who receive the Gospel are elevated while those who carry the Gospel are despised.

For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
Paul was concerned that his work remain - that those who had received Christ at his preaching would remain faithful to Christ.

For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
Timothy was trained by Paul and knew how to preach the pure Gospel of salvation by Grace Through Faith.

Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
There is no shame in the heart of those with Reprobate Minds. Those who have the Spirit Of Anti Christ in them will not be impressed by your good conversation.

Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity.     Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus.     Amen.
How can we be in Christ Jesus when Jesus has a physical body?     Two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time.
The answer is that Jesus is not just the name of the Body Of God but Jesus is the name of the Spirit Of God and Jesus is the name of the Soul Of God.
You see there is One God who is Spirit Soul And Body whose name is Jesus .
So, when we receive the evidence of the Spirit Of God and the Soul Of God as manifested in the Body Of God , we receive the Holy Spirit Of God who abides in us and we abide in Him .

For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of the Lord which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
Christ is the stumblingstone and those who receive and testify of Him will be a stumblingstone and a rock of offense as well.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of the Lord: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
The trumpet will herald the appearance of Jesus in the air and the dead and alive In Christ will be caught up to Him..

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of the Lord in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Everything is either a direct blessing or an indirect blessing.
   → A direct blessing is one that is good from the onset.
   → An indirect blessing is one which is realized in victory over an attack of the enemy.
When we are able to give thanks in every thing we are fulfulling the will of Christ as we walk by faith.

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
In Christ we experience an Abundant Life of faith and love.

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
Paul had his calling and lived it.

For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
The more we exercise ourselves in the Word and Holy Spirit the more spiritual we become.

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Satan attempts to undermine our faith in the Lord just as he did with Eve. We must be resolute, never entertaining the doubt that Satan and his children will promote.
The simplicity that is In Christ is simply faith in Christ Jesus - who He is, what He did and what He is doing.

Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before the Lord in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.
If people do not receive your ministry, move on to those who will. If people want to think badly of you, let them.

I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: the Lord knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
I suppose he is speaking of himself and a vision that he received regarding the Gospel and the kingdom.

Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is the Holy Spirit;
It is the Holy Spirit in us that establishes us as being In Christ Jesus.

Now thanks be unto the Lord, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
We are to always be victorious.
The victory comes because the knowledge of the Lord is good manifesting good taste and good smell (sweet savour).
We ought to spread the sweet savour of the knowledge of the Lord in every area of our lives.

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of the Lord: but as of sincerity, but as of the Lord, in the sight of the Lord speak we in Christ.
Those who would avoid being a stumblingblock would also fail to be a saviour, having diluted the Gospel of salvation.

But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
The Old Covenant made the Lord unapproachable by all but the High Priest.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
When we come to Christ Jesus in faith that He is Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Saviour and Lord we are born of His Holy Spirit.
At that point we are a New Creature.     We are super-human.     We are Sons Of The Holy Spirit.
But the new creation is hidden with Christ in the Holy Spirit.
The only way that it manifests is through a transformed mind.
We do not get the transformed mind at the point of faith.     We get it by absorbing the Word Of The Lord and meditating on it in the Holy Spirit.     We must then walk out that which is in our mind and heart.
Old things have passed away and all things have become new as far as the Lord is concerned, but we must forget the past and see ourselves as the Lord sees us for the effect of the old things to pass away from our minds and hearts.
We must choose to see all things as new in order to experience new things.

To wit, that the Holy Spirit was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
The Ministry Of Reconciliation is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ
   → that all sin has been forgiven and
   → that every person can be Accepted In The Beloved.
For this reason, we all aught to leave the words of condemnation and take up the Ministry Of Reconciliation.
The Holy Spirit is about reconciliation.
   → He made Himself a human body
   → That human we know as Christ Jesus.
   → In Christ He manifested His love, mercy and Grace.
   → Christ Jesus died and rose again for our reconciliation.
His wrath is only for those who refuse to be reconciled.
The Ministry Of Reconciliation is accomplished by teaching and preaching the Word Of Reconciliation.     It is by hearing, believing and receiving the Words of Jesus that repentance occurs and Grace is accessed .

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though the Holy Spirit did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ`s stead, be ye reconciled to the Holy Spirit.
The Lord uses people to bring people to Himself.     Paul says that you should receive the testimony of ministers of Christ as you would Christ Himself.
And what is the message, what is the Lord Jesus Christ`s will?
   → That we be reconciled to His Holy Spirit.

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of the Lord, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
The promise of life is for eternal, abundant life.

Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
Sound words is the Gospel of Grace Through Faith.

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
We are saved because the Lord
   → created us for His pleasure
   → loves us
   → willed us to be saved
   → took our place in judgment
   → imparted His Holy Spirit to us
   → gives us unmerited favor
   → gives us His kingdom.
Before He created anything He imagined us in intimate , personal fellowship with Him for all eternity.

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Our strength is In Christ - the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Therefore I endure all things for the elect`s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
It is through the preaching of the Gospel that people are saved. Let`s do it.

Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
To live godly is to be a witness of Christ Jesus at every opportunity.
It is to speak the Truth in all situations so that people can be made free.
Persecution comes not from living a good, moral life.     It comes as a result of the preached Truth being rejected by the unbeliever.

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
The Word is the foundation on which we receive the things of the Lord - salvation, healing, Holy Spirit, etc.

And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.

To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from our Holy Spirit Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Always salute fellow believers and bless them in Jesus` name.

Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Warning of the price of rejection is part of the Gospel of Grace Through Faith. But the larger part has to do with our perfection In Christ who believe.

Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
faith in Christ produces love one for another and inspires a testimony for Him.

For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
The fellowship of the Spirit stretches across the miles of separation. In that fellowship we pray for and expect faith and order to reign.

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of the Lord, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
The Lord`s will is that all come to repentance.
Saul repented on the road to Damascus.     He was baptized with the Holy Spirit and submitted himself to the Holy Spirit who led him to Arabia where Christ Jesus gave him revelation of the Gospel of Grace Through Faith.
So, it was the Lord Jesus that stopped him, who humbled him, who taught Him and His Holy Spirit who filled him.     The net effect was that the Lord Jesus Christ made him an apostle.
At each step of the way Paul could have resisted the will of the Lord and been lost or a non-factor in the kingdom.

That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both who is in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
`Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.`
His will is for us all to be gathered together In Christ so that heaven and earth are unified in the love, adoration and worship of Him who has created all things for His pleasure.
Sin separated us from the Holy Spirit. In Christ Jesus we are made one with Him again.

That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
When we are In Christ we bring glory to Him by His glory manifesting in and through us.     To be In Christ is to trust him implicitly.
Since Jesus is the First Fruit we are to manifest just as He did.     Another way of thinking about this truth is: Since we are Children Of God we are supposed to manifest as gods by the authority of Christ Jesus and the power of His Holy Spirit.
The New Creature that we are In Christ is as a Son Of The Holy Spirit.     We are no longer merely human.

Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
The Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus raised Him from the dead .
Jesus is seated at the right hand of The Majesty.

Blessed be the Holy Spirit Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Why was it so important that Christ Jesus leave?
So, that the Holy Spirit would be poured out upon us and into us .
Where are heavenly places?
Heaven is the Spirit Realm where the Holy Spirit is predominant.
All the blessings that have been made available to us In Christ are in the Holy Spirit who is in us.     So, in some sense, we already have everything we will ever need inside of us.
When we realize the extent of the Lord`s blessings upon us we cannot help but worship Him.
Spiritual blessings are rights and privileges which open the door to specific blessings.
   → We are accepted in the Beloved .
   → We can come boldly to the throne of Grace .
   → All our needs have been met by His riches .
Faith in Christ`s provision enables us to take from His bountiful table of blessings the specific blessing that we need for the hour.
Grace provides, Faith appropriates.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which the Lord hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
The Holy Spirit`s plan was ordained or decreed, and a big part of that plan is that all men come to repentance, receive Christ Jesus and be born of Him as His children.     But that hasn`t happened because of Free Will.
Our part is to willingly and freely receive Him and so be part of His Plan.
Even after being Born Again as New Spirit beings we must, in our soul (mind, will and emotions), willingly and purposely abstain from sin, spend time in the Word and pray in the Holy Spirit so that we be transformed by the Renewing of our minds.
So, we walk in good works only when and to the extent that we are led by the Holy Spirit.

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
The sacrifice of Christ was for all humanity.     Every person has the opportunity to be Born Again of the Lord`s Word and Holy Spirit.
What is the significant difference between people?     It is not the color of their skin, their gender, their education or their wealth.     It is whether a person knows Christ Jesus as Lord and Saviour or not.
Why do some believe in Christ and some not?     Believing is an act of the will.     Those who believe, hear and receive while those who do not, hear and reject.
The Gift Of God is Eternal Life through faith in Christ Jesus.     It is so sad that many knowingly and willfully reject that gift and so doom themselves to the Lake Of Fire.

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
The New Spirit that we are In Christ is sitting in heaven in Christ in His Holy Spirit.     We are now One with Him in the Spirit Realm (heaven) .
But to a large extent this new status is just potential as far as the Physical Realm is concerned.
The challenge for each believer is to enable the New Spirit being to manifest in our thoughts, speech and deeds.
This requires an act of our will for our minds to be transformed to the Mind Of Christ .
To the extent that we allow the Word and Holy Spirit to renew our minds is the extent to which we manifest as Sons Of The Holy Spirit operating in the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit and so experiencing Abundant Life .

According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
His eternal purpose is to reveal the mystery to mankind and usher men into Himself who comes to us who have been justified by Christ Jesus.

That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
Specifically, the Old Testament saints did not know that the gentiles would be grafted into the plan of the Lord for salvation.

And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:

And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
A person who denies the finished work of Christ is a false brother. Why? Because they want to bring you out of liberty and back into bondage.

And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of the Lord in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
The Law covenant came after the Abrahamic covenant and could not supercede it or do away with its promise.

For ye are all the children of the Lord by faith in Christ Jesus.
This is one of the most glorious statements in the Bible.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
We are not all Water Baptized the same and some believers have never been Water Baptized.     However, it is in the putting on of Christ Jesus that we are baptized into Him.
There is no difference in us who are In Christ.
This statement is the broadest most inclusive statement that can be made regarding our Lord`s will for humanity.     We are not one in physical birth but we become one in the New Birth.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
The Lord sees only our New Spirit which is part of Him. That which is of the flesh is temporal and will be translated to incorruptible.
We are no longer just human. Now are we Sons Of The Holy Spirit. We are New Creatures.
Our Lord`s expectation for us is that we manifest as His brothers by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Paul greets the people as saints knowing full well that their saint status is a gift of Grace and not a title bestowed based on performance.

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
Paul was under house arrest and so was able to witness in the palace and on the grounds.

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Holy Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
This is a rhetorical `if` because
   → There is consolation In Christ.
   → There is comfort of love In Christ.
   → There is fellowship (oneness) with the Holy Spirit.
   → There is mercy In Christ.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Jesus wants us to be like Him.     After all, He created us in His image .      He chided His disciples when they did not measure up to their potential.     `Oh you of litte faith, why are you so fearful` .
Jesus made it possible for us to be accepted by His Holy Spirit through His blood sacrifice .      Once cleansed He made it possible for us to receive His Holy Spirit .      The Holy Spirit of Christ is who raised Christ Jesus from the dead .      He told us that greater deeds would we do as a result of receiving that gift .
But, in order for us to realize our potential we must `realize our potential` .      As we think in our hearts so are we .      For me or you to reach our potential in Christ we must believe what He said about us to the extent that we allow it to transform our thoughts, words and deeds .
The Mind Of Christ is achieved by knowingly and willingly being transformed by the Word and Holy Spirit .      We must desire to have the Mind Of Christ and we must feed on what He fed on to arrive at the same place He did .
Jesus said the Kingdom Of Heaven is at hand when He walked the earth .      In the Word and Holy Spirit we can manifest heaven on earth .
It is His will but is it yours?

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of the Lord in Christ Jesus.
Many believers assume Paul is talking about Jesus` perfection, His abstinence from sin.     But this is not the case because of what Paul himself said in and .
Paul was already righteously guilt free by the gift of the Lord.
And Paul had already received the prize of the gift of Eternal Life through Christ Jesus.
So, if righteousness, freedom from guilt and Eternal Life was not his goal, what was he pressing toward?
   → The mark is the Mind Of Christ.
   → The prize is the Lord Himself.
   → The high calling is to manifest as a Son Of The Holy Spirit
The Mind Of Christ is being totally consumed in faith and living life as a Son Of The Holy Spirit.
How do we press toward that mark?
We fellowship with the Lord in His Word and pray in His Spirit.
How do we gain the prize?
We become totally consumed by His faith and totally absorbed by His Holy Spirit.

For we are the circumcision, which worship the Lord in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
The Gospel is about circumcision of the heart - not that of the flesh. Those who have been circumcised in their hearts are able to worship Christ having been delivered of having confidence in the flesh.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
So, he wilfully and purposely discounted all his accomplishments so that he could pursue the excellency of the knowledge of Christ.
His winning of Christ was simple but not necessarily easy - he had to give up his Self Righteousness and receive the righteousness by faith.

Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.
Saluting or greeting is an act of fellowship.

There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;
Epaphras was likely in prison elsewhere.

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of the essence of goodness (the Holy Spirit) which is in you in Christ Jesus.
Jesus said that there is none good but the Holy Spirit.     So, the implication of there being good things in us is by virtue of the Holy Spirit being in us.
When we recall and speak the good things provided by the Gospel of Grace Through Faith the joy and excitement of the Holy Spirit will make our message effective.
The Holy Spirit in us is the Spirit Of Christ in us.
We indicate acknowledgment by some visible or audible signal.
Whatever our need, we must acknowledge that the need is already met in order to stand in faith and so see it come to pass.

Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
Paul determines not to use his authority as a minister.

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
Though there are many members of His body we are all special in Him and ought to appreciate our connection by the Holy Spirit to every other believer..

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
To be justified is to be relieved of guilt, freely implies that we have nothing to do with it - it is a gift. It is the sacrifice of Christ Jesus that has redeemed us.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Holy Spirit.
When you are Born Again the Lord sees you as you truly are: a New Spirit being whose soul and body will be redeemed at His appearing.
He does not see the sin in our lives because of His blood and His promise of Eternal Life.
If you think there is anything separating you from the Lord you are doubting the Love Of The Lord and His finished work at the cross
Start believing in the perfect Love Of The Lord and the power of His blood so that you enjoy an intimate, personal relationship with Him in His Holy Spirit.
Your prayers will be answered.

For the law of the Holy Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
We are under the Law of the Spirit Of Life by faith in Christ Jesus.     We are free from the law of Sin And Death by faith in Christ Jesus.     This is awesome!
This is speaking of spiritual life and spiritual death.     There is no condemnation upon those who are In Christ Jesus .      We are New Spirit beings who are perfect .      We are accepted in the beloved .
In the flesh we have not yet been redeemed .      That will happen at our Lord`s return .
In the meantime, the Law Of The Lord still reigns.     This means that sin and obedience both have consequences .
So, do not confuse the spirit and the flesh.     The spirit is free.     The flesh is subject to coming under bondage to sin .

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of the Holy Spirit, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It is the love of the Holy Spirit which envelopes and imbues us with His peace and comfort.

I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
This chapter can only be understood in the context of Paul`s statement in verses 1-3 which reveals his emotional disconnection from
   → the reality of hell
   → the irrelevance of human genetics
This chapter has been used by Calvinists to support the arguments
   → that the Lord determines who will be saved and who will not be saved
   → that the Lord is a respecter of persons
   → that what will be will be.
Such reading ignores the emotionalism that motivates his inconsistent conclusions with the Truth that he expresses elsewhere.
(Calvinism is actually blasphemy cloaked in piety).
In Paul`s defense it is difficult to think about those family members and friends who reject Christ Jesus and choose the Lake Of Fire.     How can they reject Holy Spirit Grace?     How can they choose death over life?
The second greatest gift that the Lord gave man is Free Will.     He wants us to choose Him.     It is in our choice of Him that we identify with Him.
Lucifer was with the Lord but did not choose the Lord and so the Lord created the Lake Of Fire to destroy him.
Humans are born into the world apart from the Lord and must choose Him.     That is what ensures our eternal stability in His presence - we choose Him.
So, Paul struggling with his identity as a Jew cannot grasp the fact that the Chosen People are those who choose the Lord Jesus Christ .
Because he cannot grasp the foolishness of how anyone can reject Grace, he assumes that the Lord must be making the call and holding back Grace from some while extending it to others despite the truth expressed in and .
